About these odd one out worksheets
Which one doesn't belong? Each row shows a small group of pictures, and one of them is from a different family. Kids circle the odd one out and practice thinking about what things have in common. It's simple to explain, quick to check and works well for kids who can't read yet.
Younger children get clear differences, like a fruit among vehicles. Older kids get close calls, like a vegetable hiding among fruits, which makes them explain their thinking. The answer key says why each answer is right. Talking it through afterward is half the fun.
Skills your child practices

Tips for grown-ups
- Ask 'Why doesn't it belong?' after each answer.
- Let your child name the group the others belong to.
- Turn it around: can they think of another picture that would fit?
Questions parents ask
What skill does odd one out teach?
It builds classification: noticing what things share and what makes one different. That supports vocabulary, reading comprehension and science sorting.
Is there always only one right answer?
Each row is built from clear picture groups so one answer fits best. If your child has a different but well-reasoned answer, that's worth talking about.
Can my child do these before they can read?
Yes. The rows are all pictures, so pre-readers can do them on their own once they know the instructions.
